Speedstep Accredited Teachers course using Unique Fashion and Textiles Software goes Global
This has been an exciting few years for Sinclair Consultancy, being involved in a new project training teachers and working with students using fashion and textiles software.

Jan 2002 – Project is launched with first training taking place at the National training Centre at Goldsmith College London.

Jan 2003 – Invitation to lauch project in Australia. Working with Louise Duvernet from Strathfield University the first Speedstep training takes place.

Feb 2004 - Hong Kong- Speedstep training for teachers English Schools Foundation – Rose Sinclair joined by Louise Duvernet work with 10 textiles teachers from English Schools Foundation.

If you want to be part of this successful training programme then from January 2004 we are able to offer teachers Speedstep Accreditated Training Programme to all UK Teachers or Schools, also offered to all International schools following UK Curriculum. Sinclair Consultancy in Hong Kong –Feb 2004
In February 2004- Sinclair Consultancy undertook its first textiles CAD/CAM training with the English Schools Foundation in Hong at the King George V school in Kowlooon. The week long training session focussed on the following

  • Speedstep Textiles/Fashion Software Training
  • Use of Digital Printing
  • Use of ICT in Design and Technology Textiles
  • Methods of teaching the software
  • Developing skills
  • Using support material

Sinclair Consultancy in Cornwall April and May 2004
In April and May 2004 Rose Sinclair worked with teachers in Cornwall at the Design and Make Centre. The 4 days were action packed.

Days 1-3 focussed on the Speedstep Accreditated Teachers training course, participants were engaged in design from the start go. Teachers engaged in the training and were able to use the enjoy using the software as well as thinking about how they can use the software in the classroom.

Day 4 – Doing the Digital. Getting to Grips with Digital printing. The teachers were able to take all the training on days 1-3 and transfer that experince to digital printing using the Epson 3000 and Epson 1290 printer with specially adapted textiles inks and use heat presses. Creating samples that can be used in the classroom as well as experimenting on products from lingerie to football shirts.

Rose Sinclair takes part in On-line Design and Technology Inset May 2004

Rose Sinclair was the Textiles expert asked to take part in the on-line inset programme developed by DATA and BECTA
The on-line inset was live over a period of 4 days and teachers and consultants alike were asked to take part in this exciting new development in engaging in on-line discussion about the key issues in Design and Technology

April 2004 –Designing our Future Textiles Conference Umist Manchester
Rose Sinclair presents paper with Dr Julia Gaimster of University of the Arts London, presents a paper at major textiles conference that looks at Textiles Teaching and the impact of new technology across Higher Education and Schools in the UK. May 2004- Speedstep Presentation to London Section of Textiles Institute – University of the Arts
Rose Sinclair was privileged to do a presentation to the London Section of the Textiles Institute which looked at a unique project. The CAD/CAM Inititive enables teachers and students to have access to Industry standard Fashion and Textiles software. Rose Sinclair was able to present an update about the project, as well as display work that was being undertaken by students from Key stage 3 to A level. The presentation ended with questions and on a positive note with the fact that we were teaching students future skills.

 

Sinclair Consultancy in Jersey –June 2004
Doing the Digital.
Working with Jersey school for Girls – Rose Sinclair and Emma Lawler worked with teachers exploring Digital Printing and using the Heat press.
Exploration of a range of printing techniques using a digital heat press.
Final event of the day a presentation to teachers of the Speedstep Pro 2000 software and time for teachers to have a go at Digital printing onto all different types of fabrics.

March 2004 - Ask the Expert, Rose Sinclair – Sinclair Consultancy takes part in Ask the Expert
For the month of March Rose Sinclair was asked to participate in Ask the Expert. With her background in Textiles and Fashion Rose was able to answer all the queiries put to her, from computerised sewing machines to using ICT in textiles.
